Principal's Greeting
The school is located in a modern building in the highly sought after Western Suburbs of Perth. Perth Art School is an independent organisation catering for students from 5 years old to adults. We welcome all talented and interested students to come and see the Academy in action. Since opening its doors in 2016, the Academy has helped hundreds of students to develop their fine art skills to an impressive standard.
Our Principal tutors are highly qualified and have many years classroom teaching experience. Many of our staff are bilingual and have also curated and exhibited in art exhibitions. We also have local, national and international artists sharing their knowledge and expertise in our Artist in Residency programs.
When students complete our courses, they take away with them the skills and confidence needed to produce artworks to a professional standard that reflects Fine Arts training. We are very proud that our students consistently win placements in major West Australian and Australian Art Awards, including the Shaun Tan Award for Young Artists, the Black Swan Youth Award and Archibald Prize for Youth Portraiture.

Perth Art School, located in Perth, WA, offers a diverse range of art courses tailored for students aged 5 and above, including adult art enthusiasts. Our courses are designed to nurture and develop each student’s artistic talents and abilities, allowing them to explore their creativity and self-expression.
Visual art education at our school differs from traditional subjects like mathematics and language. It involves a progression from simple to complex concepts, guiding students from basic two-dimensional expressions to advanced three-dimensional spatial representations. Our experienced and highly qualified teachers utilize concrete and straightforward, as well as complex, colour and shape examples to instruct students at different levels. For instance, when teaching composition basics, beginners start with simple lines, while intermediate and advanced students learn about more complex structures. This approach allows students of various skill levels to be taught in the same studio, enhancing their ability to observe the world, think critically, and express themselves creatively. Our focus on developing imagination, modelling skills, and innovative thinking is a key aspect of our art education curriculum.
